The first Blue and White Weekend was held in Gainesville, June 1982. The purpose was to create an event for the members of Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta, its sister organization, to have fun and network while raising funds for the Gainesville community. The fraternity has donated more than $30, 000 to charitable organizations including $10,000 to the American Cancer Society. In 2006, the fraternity donated $14,000 total to the Gainesville community which benefited elementary schools, service-outreach programs and health-education organizations. The event derives its name from the official colors of its non-profit organization. In 2007, Blue and White Weekend celebrated 25 years of existence.
